Creating a transition from work to rest
Closing a laptop does not always end the working day in your mind. A short, ordinary transition can help separate tasks from the evening without turning rest into another project to complete.

Give unfinished work a place
Write down the next useful action for anything that remains open. Put the note where you will find it tomorrow, then close the tools you no longer need. The purpose is not to finish every task; it is to make the unfinished work understandable enough that you do not have to keep rehearsing it.
Change one thing in the room
Move away from the work surface, adjust the light or put on comfortable clothing. Choose a small action you can repeat without special equipment. If you prefer movement, follow an appropriate practice you already know rather than attempting an unfamiliar sequence when tired. A walk or a quiet seat can be equally valid choices.
Keep the ritual flexible
Some evenings will be busy and others spacious. Let the transition be brief when it needs to be. Avoid judging its success by whether you instantly feel calm. Notice what helps over time and leave room for your own preferences. This is a reflection on daily routines, not a treatment or a promise about sleep, stress or health.
